A FLASH CARD from one of Shelbys National Geographics for Kids and the Blister Beetle we found in the house. OH HOW OUR children teach us...every second of every minute of every hour of every day.
That is really cool you found a blister beetle. In horses they can cause a mess of problems. They can cause ulcer like signs. The beetles have a toxin called Cantharidin it erodes the lining of the equine stomach and is really really bad. The horses usually get them from eating dead beetles that were bailed in their hay up to a year before they ingest the poison. Cool find!!!
